Hanbali inheritance
The Arabian peninsula. Agrees with Shafi'i and Maliki against the Hanafi position on most contested cases.
The Hanbali school is the official school of Saudi Arabia and dominant across the Arabian peninsula. Its inheritance rulings align almost entirely with Shafi'i and Maliki against the Hanafi position on contested cases.
Distinctive Hanbali positions
Hanbali agrees with Maliki and Shafi'i on:
- Allowing full siblings into the Musharakah share with maternal half-siblings.
- Letting the grandfather share with siblings rather than blocking them.
- Applying Radd when the estate has no residuary heir.
Where Hanbali sometimes diverges from the other two is in technical sub-rules within the grandfather case (the exact 1/3 / sibling-share / 1/6 selection) — but the practical outcomes are usually the same.
